To save time in the home selection process, start by making a list of what you like and dislike about your current home. This information will prove invaluable as you review your house hunting needs with your Realtor. Things to consider as you make your wish list:
- What style of home do you prefer: ranch, 2-story, or something else?
- Do you prefer older homes or something newer?
- What size home do you need in terms of bedroom count, bath count?
- Is square footage more important than room count?
- What is your kitchen preference…open to other living areas? Breakfast bar or dining space?
- Parking space for how many cars?
- Living room and dining room areas….formal or informal? Separate family room?
- What exterior features are most important… brick, stone, siding; yard; fence; wooded areas?
